'Goodbye parole': Schapelle Corby starts Instagram account

As she prepares to finally shut the door on her Indonesian prison nightmare, Schapelle Corby has today taken another step forward in her return to normality, creating a public Instagram account.

Finally out of her Kuta home, the freed drug smuggler posted four images, with the most recent a selfie alongside her sister Mercedes.

"Almost at the airport," she wrote.

Moments earlier she had posted an image of her "final parole paperwork".

She entered the social media work in a rather conventional fashion, showing an image of her two dogs, writing “Going to miss these two. My puppies #Luna&May”.

While the post looks like the many other pet-centred post on the site, it’s the first time Corby has made any form of public comment in years.

Hours later, Corby also posted a photo of her "Bali family", which showed her sister, brother, security guard and others smiling inside her Kuta home.

She was banned from speaking to the media or any pubic interviews for the entirety of her three years on parole.

Determined to appease the Indonesian government that put her behind bars for 12 years, Corby honoured the agreement and has denied selling her story to any Australian media outlets upon her return.

Corby has cared for Luna, since her sister Mercedes left Bali, while she purchased May upon her released from prison.

Wearing a pink headband in her profile photo, Corby has already been followed by more than 50,000 Instagram users.

Surung Pasaribu, head of Bali Corrections Division was asked if there is a problem with Ms Corby posting on Instagram.

"I don't read Instagram. I even don't understand Instagram. I only have a hand phone (not a smartphone)," he said on Saturday.

"Today, Corby is free. She has her rights. The other day, when she did such things, we would consider her parole status. By midnight at 27th, I think there's no problem."
