Bodies of mother and son discovered inside Adelaide home

A woman in her 40s and her nine-year-old son have been found dead in a house in Adelaide.

Police are not commenting how the tragedy happened but say they are not seeking anyone in relation to the deaths.

The bodies were found by police who went to the Shannon Avenue, Glenelg North home about 11pm on Thursday after concerns were raised by the woman's estranged partner.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Overmeyer said the pair have not been officially identified.

He said no one is being sought over the incident.

"An investigation is continuing and it's in its infancy, however, it is believed there is no other person involved in these tragic circumstances," Detective Chief Inspector Overmeyer said.

Detective Chief Inspector Overmeyer said the woman's estranged partner was "not doing very well at all".

He said it is believed the deceased were the only people at the home at the time they died.

Detective Chief Inspector Overmeyer said the matter was not being treated as a murder suicide at this time.

He said the people involved in the incident had not been known to police.
