Hero aunt killed in Manchester Attack had shielded niece from explosion

A brave aunt who was killed in the Manchester Arena bombing, had shielded her young niece from the explosion, in a heroic effort to protect her.

Kelly Brewster’s death was confirmed by a family member, after she had been missing for 24 hours in the attack aftermath.

Ms Brewster, 32, was at the Ariana Grande concert with her sister, Claire and niece, Hollie Booth, according to Daily Mail.

Her boyfriend, Ian Winslow, shared his devastation following the news of her death on Facebook.

“Kelly really was the happiest she has ever been and we had so many things planned together,” he said.

“My daughter Phoebe will be absolutely devastated like we all are.”

On Facebook Hollie's grandmother said she had suffered broken both her legs and Claire had suffered a broken her jaw.

Commenting on the post Paul Dryhurst said, “I understand she (Kelly) was behind Hollie and shield her with her body (sic).”

Ian’s father, John Winslow, told Daily Mail Kelly was “a lovely lass.”

“When I think of her now, all I remember is her smile,” he said.

It's claimed Ms Brewster and her boyfriend had put a deposit on a house the day before the attack.

“They were both looking forward to a bright future and sharing their lives together,” Mr Winslow told Daily Mail.
