Vivid and Liverpool FC Sydney events on high alert following Ariana Grande concert attack

The terror attack in Manchester has been felt in Australia, as major entertainment and sporting events prepare to kick off in Sydney this week.

Friday marks the launch of the city’s popular Vivid festival which will see thousands flock to see landmarks light up between May 26 and June 17.

At least 75,000 people are also expected to pack ANZ stadium as English Premier League giants Liverpool FC take on Sydney FC on Wednesday night.

Police are looking at whether additional measures are needed during both events.

ANZ Stadium management told 7 News they were constantly reviewing security and police have confirmed there is no specific threat in NSW at this stage.

“Our advice to anyone going to a mass gathering in NSW is to use caution,” David Elliott said.
