Schoolgirl killed after being hit by truck in front of mother on Central Coast
The start of the new school term has been marred by tragedy, with a young girl killed after being hit by a truck in front of her mother.
It’s believed the five-year-old girl was crossing the road after finishing primary school when she was struck and killed by the truck about 3.40pm on Wednesday afternoon.
It’s believed the girl had just stepped off a school bus and ran onto the road when she was struck.
Witnesses raced to help as paramedics were called but the girl’s injuries were too severe and she died at the scene.
Police from Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to Hastings Street, Rocky Point, near Wyong.
Her family has been taken to Wyong Hospital suffering shock.
The driver of the truck has been taken for mandatory testing, however there are no indications of any wrongdoing.
