Devastating fire extensively damages 150-year-old school

A fire has ripped through a historic school in Dalby, west of Brisbane, with police believing it was deliberately lit.

Buildings inside Dalby State School that were around 150 years old were destroyed by the blaze that broke out at around 12.30am on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of flames coming from the front of the building on Cunningham Street.

According to Queensland Police no one was “physically injured” as a result of the fire however the school has been “extensively damaged”.

Initial investigations indicate the fire was deliberately lit.

A crime scene has been established, with investigators set to return to the scene on Tuesday to determine the cause of the blaze.
