WATCH: Rats spotted scurrying around McDonald's car park

A McDonald's customer has captured the sickening moment he spotted a pack of rats scurrying around a McDonald's carpark while he was waiting for his food.

20-year-old Liam Edwards filmed the rodents as they moved through the undergrowth and litter after he visited a McDonald's restaurant in Oldbury, England.

The Northfield resident said he was "shocked" to see the rats.

“I was with my friend at the time. We had just bought some fries and a drink and had pulled in a space reserved for people awaiting their food," he told the Birmingham Mail.

“I was tucking into my fries when I saw some movement in front of me on the car park. I had a closer look and saw a couple of rats and then more just pour onto the car park.

“There must have been nine or 10 of them. I was shocked. It turned my stomach and put me off my fries."

McDonald’s has since called pest control after being made aware of the footage.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said they were being "proactive about the situation as a matter of urgency".

“We carry out regular and multiple litter picks in this shared car park throughout the day and we are disappointed to see this footage," the spokesperson said.

"Pest Control experts have been to assess the situation and have raised no concerns with the proactive action we are taking.

“The car park is owned by a third party and we will be looking to contact them as a matter of urgency, in order to seek a solution to the issue. We would like to stress that this in no way affects inside our restaurant or land owned by us – it is linked to the shared carpark outside.”
