Good Friday crowds narrowly escape car crashing into fish shop

A Queensland fish and chip shop has sustained major structural damage after a driver of a car crashed into it.

The female driver was allegedly more then five times over the legal blood alcohol limit at the time of the crash, the Brisbane Times reports.

Emergency services were called to the Rio Vista Boulevard fish and chip shop in Broadbeach Waters at about 11.40pm, with five people inside the shop at the time of the crash.

The female driver of the car allegedly recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.277 at the crash scene.

Paramedics assessed one female patient, reportedly the driver, and took her to Gold Coast University Hospital with neck pain.
