'No, this is wrong!': United sorry for 'reaccommodating' passenger by dragging him from overbooked flight

The United Airlines has apologised for having to "re-accommodate" a man who was left bleeding from the mouth after he was forcibly removed from his seat on an overbooked flight.

Passengers filmed the encounter where a man, reportedly a doctor, was dragged from his seat on a United flight from Chicago to Louisville on Sunday.

He is heard screaming as he resists before he’s dragged away with what looks like blood coming from his mouth.

“No, this is wrong!” a woman is heard shouting as aviation officers carry him down the aisle.

“Look at what you’ve done to him.”

United Airlines CEO Oscar Munzo offered an apology after numerous videos of the man being dragged through the aisle surfaced online.

"This is an upsetting event to all of here at United," he said in a statement.

"I apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers."

Munzo said the airline was working with authorities to investigate the situation and dealing with the man directly.

Jayse Anspac was one of many passengers who filmed the altercation before posting it on Twitter.

United Airlines told Yahoo News the flight was overbooked and no one would volunteer to vacate their seat.

“After our team looked for volunteers, one customer refused to leave the aircraft voluntarily and law enforcement was asked to come to the gate,” a United spokesperson said.

The seats were reportedly required for United Airlines staff.

The video has more than 80,000 re-tweets and 57,000 likes with the airline receiving criticism for how the “overbook situation” was handled.

Chicago Police said the 69-year-old man struck his head against an armrest causing injuries to his face.
