'Pedo Hunter' vigilante confronts alleged predator

The self-dubbed Coffs Harbour Pedo Hunter has confronted another alleged predator, filming his meeting with a man in Tasmania he accuses of attempting to pick up a 14-year-old boy for sex.

The vigilante has built a following for filming a number of attempts to publicly shame alleged pedophiles despite police saying his evidence is not admissible in court.

On this occasion he poses as a 14-year-old boy online and confronts the alleged pedophile on a park bench.

“What are you doing down here?” the pedophile hunter asks.

“I was about to tell the young fella to get a f****** life,” the man says.

The discussion continues between the pair with the alleged pedophile denying the accusations.

No charges have been laid.

Despite being lauded by some on social media, pedophile vigilantes have been discouraged by police and warned of the dangers of their activity.

Queensland Law Society president Christine Smyth said vigilante justice against pedophiles was counter-productive.

“To take vigilante action can in fact interfere with our ability to protect the vulnerable," she said.

"They through their own actions can find themselves in breach of the law, stalking and trespassing just being the start of them."
