PICTURED: The scary moment snake confronts toddler in mum's photo

A Victorian mother has captured the moment a deadly eastern brown snake approached her toddler while she was taking her photo.

Bianca Dickinson was taking a photo of her two-year-old daughter Molly when she noticed something move, assuming it was a leaf in the wind.

Just a few seconds later she realised it was in fact a dangerous eastern brown snake passing by her daughter just centimetres away.

Ms Dickenson was taking photos for Australian children's wear label, Twinkle Star Designs, at the end of her driveway in The Wimmera, Victoria, where her children regularly catch the bus.

“I can’t believe it didn’t touch her,” Ms Dickinson wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Once I was home, I checked my camera and found this shot.”

Ms Dickenson said she is still in shock about the encounter.

The post has had over 5,000 shares, 15,000 likes and almost 5,000 comments.

One Facebook user said her "heart pounds" looking at the photo while another one said it's "the stuff of nightmares".

"Omg! My heart pounds when I look at this photo - if you blow it up you can see the snake's eye. Great photo, so glad your little girl was focused on the camera," one woman posted.

"Oh Bianca, that's the stuff of nightmares! Glad the snake had somewhere else to be," the other woman wrote.
