‘I stabbed him to death’: Killer walks police through horrific double murder

Hours after going on a horrific stabbing rampage that claimed the lives of his father and stepmother, killer Corey Breen gave police what’s been described as a “one in a million” confession.

Video of the brutally honest interview aired on Murder Uncovered, as Breen walked police through his double murder the took place on the NSW Central Coast four years ago.

The killer almost boastfully recounts how he stabbed his father, Paul Breen, 15 times and then killed his stepmother, Felicia Crawford, as his young half-brother and sister were forced to run for their lives.

“I opened the front door there and walked straight over him and f***** started stabbing him,” Breen tells detectives on March 29, 2013.

“He’s like ‘Corey don’t do it, f***** ra ra ra I’m sorry, I’m so sorry I did all that s*** to you’ and yeah no, I stabbed him to death.”

Breen then described how he brazenly murdered his stepmother, and hoped she suffered.

“I stabbed that f***** slut to death. Got her a few times in the torso and that, and hopefully right in the neck and the f***** head,” Breen told detectives.

“Hoping she’s f***** dead.”

Just hours earlier, Breen had a fight with his girlfriend at a barbecue gathering on Good Friday 2013.

Fed up, he grabbed a 19cm long bladed hunting knife and decided to take action against the people he thought had treated him badly.

Riding a pushbike, Breen at first tried to steal a car, but then continued on to a take away shop and lashed out.

“I do remember having a go at like a big fat f***,” Breen told detectives.

After leaving terrified customers cowering in the store, Breen confronted a couple as they arrived home, stealing their car to drive to Long Jetty so he could murder his grandparents.

“Norma and Colin yep ... going to get butchered,” Breen said.

Out-of-control and armed with a hunting knife, Breen stood watching his grandparents inside their home, before a neighbour unwittingly saved their lives.

A security spotlight came on, startling Breen, who then decided to steal the neighbour’s car and target his father.

“Nathan from next door come running in and he said ‘Col, a young bloke just took my car’,” Colin said.

“I said ‘what? What did he look like?’ and do you know what... I am not joking, he described Corey to a T. So I rung police.”

Only later would Colin find out Breen had been in his yard, watching him, waiting to strike.

Fearing a knife wouldn’t do the job, Breen made a detour to a friend’s home where he knew a firearm was kept.

“When he asked for a gun, that’s when I realised ... I told him that I was going to shut the safe,” the friend said.

“I stood in front of the door and wouldn’t let him leave.”

Angry, and ready to kill, Breen forced his way past his friend and arrived at the Killarney Vale home of his father Paul.

After brutally killing his father and stepmother, Breen took off, but was cornered by police.

“I hit a dead end. I was going to get shot by the cops. Old mate fired the taser at me feet or something,” Breen tells detectives.

“But I threw the knife, (they) put the bracelets on. Got it all?” he finishes.

Siblings recount watching their parents die

Breen had a “pure-hatred” for his father and never liked his father’s new partner Felicia.

Together the couple had two children, Dane and Rachel, who managed to survive the horrific knife attack on Good Friday 2013.

Aged just 12 and seven, the kids were forced to run for their lives past Breen, as their parents were brutally murdered.

“I heard the glass breaking and at the time, I thought it was just plates shattering from the washing up or something,” Dane said.

“I thought (Breen) was punching (dad) but then I saw blood and I realized it was much worse than that.

“I saw dad convulsing upwards every time he would stab him and I saw my mum standing nearby screaming out ‘Corey, stop it’.

“And then turning around, telling me to get Rachel and run.”

At just 12 years of age, Dane grabbed his sister and they ran as their father lay dying inside.

“Dad didn’t have a chance to fight back at all,” he said.

“I left (Rachel) on the driveway and she went back in ... laid with mum who was dying.

“I remember standing in the driveway thinking that I was the only one alive.

“Then (Rachel) ran out and hugged me and told me that mummy and daddy are dead.”

Dane said he then saw Breen walk from the home and get in his car.

“He gave me the most evil look when he drove past; I don’t think I’ll ever forget that look.”

Given his extraordinary confession, Breen had no option but to plead guilty and was sentenced to 42 years in jail.

The 26-year-old's rampage had ended with two dead, three people, including one stabbed in the face, assaulted and two cars stolen in a matter of hours.
