WATCH: 'Bagelgate' brawl brings London train to a halt

An incident on board a London train where rowdy bagel tossing leads to an all-in brawl has been widely shared online.

It seemed the situation got so out of hand authorities had to respond to the unusual occurrence, which has now been termed 'bagelgate'.

It is unclear how the scuffle unfolded exactly, however a video posted to Twitter viewed thousands of times, provides some insight.

The ruckus reportedly took place on Sunday morning on board the service from London to Huntingdon.

The Twitter user Dougie Stew who first posted about 'bagelgate' described it as surreal.

He told the Daily Mail: "I got on at the first carriage and you could see that everyone had had a good night.

"These girls were grabbing bagel after bagel from their handbags and just putting them on people's heads and singing."

The man who seemed to be subjected to their bagel antics appears to become fed up and seemingly throw pieces out the window.

At some point the whole carriage can be seen in the vision getting worked up and the scuffle seemingly spreads.

Also in the footage two other girls exchange some harsh words before being physically restrained by other passengers.

Dougie Stew told the publication: "It was pretty funny but then people started getting a bit worked up and all of a sudden these two girls are going at one another."

The video ends with authorities talking to the passengers as the incident appears to have disrupted the service.

One police officer can be heard saying "Anyone know who's involved, cos the train is not moving till I find out."

"We were called at 1.15am on Sunday to reports of a disturbance on a board a train. We attended and spoke to passengers but no allegations of any offences were made," a spokesperson for the British Transport Police told the Daily Mail.

A second clip has been added to Twitter in the past couple of hours by user Lucy Bonner which appears to tell a bit more of the story.

It is captioned: "Here is the full story of how we got all the bagels."

In the clip they claim to be surprising their "nanna" who seems to put bagels into a bag, before the train ruckus unfolds.
