'Bully' targeting student gets pushed over in dramatic video

A mother is speaking out against bullying among school children in Canada, sharing a video to Facebook of an alleged incident where she claims her son intervened to help a victim.

The video shows an alleged bully targeting another student seemingly pushing and shoving the pupil who appears to be walking on their own.

A third person, Melany Barrick's son Kevin Barrick, runs over pushing the alleged aggressor to the ground.

It appears that a group of other students then target Kevin, tackling him.

Global News reports, the video which was filmed two months ago, was shared by the intervening student's mother online late last week.

The Montreal Gazette claims Ms Barrick's post on Facebook commends her son for stepping in to help a student he didn't know.

Her post also reportedly criticizes the lack of supervision for the students.

The mother and son told Global News that the school in Quebec has a privately owned arena nearby where many fights unfold.

"It is a problem to the school, that arena. It’s where everything happens," said Ms Barrick.

As the arena is not part of school property it is reported that there is limited supervision.

It is claimed that Mr Barrick did not get into trouble for this incident as it was proved he was trying to help, however he was suspended over a similar incident a week ago.

“When I see someone that can’t defend themselves, I feel the need to help,” Mr Barrick told Global News.

It is reported that the school is assessing if there is a need for more surveillance in the area.

The video shared by Ms Barrick has been viewed almost 175,000 times over the past few days.
