Brutal Adelaide train attack allegedly sparked by racial slur

A terrified passenger has filmed a brutal attack on an Adelaide train, which was allegedly sparked by a racial slur.

The fight happened on a Gawler line train around 4pm on Monday, in front of shocked onlookers and several children.

According to a witness, all hell broke loose after the Salisbury interchange, with a shirtless man taking offence to a remark made by another passenger.

“You want to f*** with me?” the attacker can be heard saying.

“Don’t ever disrespect my aboriginal people again.”

The shirtless man took aim at the young African passenger and forced him to repeat his words.

“You say it, say it, you say I love aboriginal people. This is our land,” the attacker says during the scuffle.

The man then threatened to kill the victim as he was thrown to the ground and assaulted.

“I’m still shaken by it, pretty speechless,” one terrified witness said.

“(It was) pretty confronting and disturbing to see on public transport at 4pm in the afternoon.

“I was worried about the safety of others as well as the victim himself.”

The shirtless man exited the train at Greenfields, after repeatedly punching an onboard security camera.

Police are investigating the footage.
