Highway horror: Erratic driver filmed colliding head-on in fatal crash

A horrific crash in Western Australia's south west has resulted in the death of one person after a driver went on a wild ride on the wrong side of the highway.

Footage shows a green Toyota Landcruiser driving down the wrong side of the Bussell Highway swerving multiple times around oncoming traffic before impact.

A witness to the fiery crash filmed the moment leading up to the collision showing the erratic driver crossing over onto the wrong side of the road on numerous occasions.

The 61-year-old woman, Jenni Pratt, who was the driver of the white Toyota Rav 4, died immediately on impact and her passenger remains in critical condition in Bunbury Regional Hospital.

According to police the vehicle rolled over before the 45-year-old male driver of the Landcruiser was thrown from the car.

Upon impact the vehicle burst into flames.

The man survived the collision and was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.

Leading up to the crash, horrified witnesses called Triple-0 in a desperate bid to stop the driver.

The crash occurred on Bussell Highway in Capel at about 4.47pm on Saturday approximately 100 metres south of the Capel Drive intersection.

Major Crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash or the Toyota Landcruiser before the crash travelling on: Wonnerup Beach, Busselton; Layman Road, Busselton or Bussell Highway from Busselton to the Capel Drive intersection.
