‘It’s a massive no’: Aussies pan British Bunnings ad rip-off
You’ll recognise the happy jingle, but it’s the British accents that might stop you dead in your tracks.
Some Aussies are less than impressed that the Bunnings ad for the opening of it’s first UK hardware store replicates the Australian version.
The trademark ‘Aussie-as’ style ad still features store workers dressed in their casual uniform inside the giant store, however it’s when viewers hear the catch-line, “where lowest prices are just the beginning” is when the trouble begins.
The staff are all British and apparently it’s rather off-putting.
“The UK’s been waiting for something like this for so long,” says a staff member sporting the infamous green apron and red shirt.
Furious Aussies have taken to social media to express their outrage at the seeming rip-off of what has now become a staple in the Australian advertising landscape.
Some have said the advert is “off-key”, while others has said the British accents “just sounded wrong”.
“UK Bunnings advert is like listening to someone do a cover of your favourite song but just a little off-key,” wrote one woman.

The logo is the same, the interior of the store is also identical, but critics feel copying and pasting the Australian version of the ad is too simplistic an approach.
The ad signs off with the familiar “Bunnings Warehouse!” chorus, but with a strong English twang.
Earlier in the year Bunnings' first British Saturday sausage sizzle was much hyped despite it occuring in the middle of a brutal winter where temperatures were freezing on the day.
Bunnings said it planned to invest up to $831 million (£500 million) rolling out the Bunnings Warehouse format in the UK and Ireland over the next three years.
The only question now is what will an Irish Bunnings ad sound like?
