Trio arrested after video of alleged playground assault shared online

WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: Three teenage boys are assisting NSW police after horrifying video of an alleged assault and robbery was shared on social media.

The footage uploaded to a Facebook account on Saturday showed two males punching and taunting a boy as he lay trapped in a tyre swing in a playground at Bonnells Bay, in Lake Macquarie.

The uploader bragged about sharing the footage, claiming the alleged victim was “bashed for talking s***”.

They also boasted in another post about how many views the video had gained since it was uploaded.

NSW Police told 7 News Online three males; a 19-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, were assisting police with inquiries after the alleged assault.

Police confirmed the trio was arrested at a Tuggerah shopping centre on Sunday morning.

Police could not confirm whether the alleged victim in the footage or the video uploader had been arrested.
