Police are concerned with today's hot weather - the thieves might not know how to care for Egg properly - and they're asking for any sightings to be reported.

Officers have called for the safe return of the dog to the nearest police station.

Egg is described as a black dog, of the pug breed and he may be wearing a red coiled collar around his neck.

Police said they would like to speak to three men in relation to the incident.

They have been described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, all approximately 30 years of age.

Two are of a slim build and a third is described as being of a large build with a bald head and a goatee.
