Photos expose Teresa Bradford's private hell before husband killed her
WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: Shocking photos have shown the private hell Teresa Bradford endured in the months before she was killed by her husband, only weeks after he was freed on bail.
Queensland Police found rope and gaffer tape under a bed while investigating the murder-suicide.
Video footage of Teresa singing cheerfully showed a different picture to what was going on behind the scenes.
Another photo, from November 2016, was taken after her husband of 17 years beat her so horrifically that she lost control of her bodily functions.
On January 31 Teresa was killed by her estranged husband, in front of the former couple’s four children.
She was stabbed to death in her Gold Coast home, in a murder-suicide.
David Bradford had been freed on bail only two weeks prior, despite a previous violent attack.
On Wednesday Queensland’s Attorney General has ordered an immediate review into the state’s bail system.
It will mean decisions made by magistrates in domestic violence cases will face further scrutiny.
Teresa’s best friend Debra Napper told 7 News that the victim "had four court orders" on Mr Bradford.
But legal consequences meant nothing to a man willing to kill himself.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Tuesday: "We have trained magistrates where the specialist domestic and family violence court is there with wraparound support services."
Mr Bradford was let free in the weeks prior to his wife’s death because he had no criminal history.
On Wednesday tributes were delivered to Teresa Bradford’s home from strangers, who had also felt the sting of domestic violence.
"You spend your whole life hiding, running, being scared,” Melissa Geeslan told 7 News.
The former couple’s children, the oldest 17 and the youngest 8, are being cared for by extended family.
Bradford's lawyer has told Seven News he cannot believe what has happened.
"In NSW, a trial is underway fitting high-risk domestic violence offenders with GPS trackers to alert authorities if they approach their victim.
“It only applies to people with a conviction or outstanding criminal charges, such a law would have applied to David Bradford,” Lawyer Mark Donnelly said.
“(I) met the gentleman on January 16. He seemed entirely together. He didn't have any problems or any indications that anything like this was bothering him.”
