Baby caught up in violent home invasion

A six-month-old baby boy has been caught up in a terrifying gunpoint home invasion in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

The armed thieves are still on the run tonight after bashing the infant's father, stealing the family's luxury Porsche Cayenne and later crashing it.

Two masked men boldly smashed their way into the Bayly Street home at Hendon in the dead of night, where the couple and their baby son were asleep.

It's understood the intruders armed with a gun and crowbar pointed the rifle at the father's head before punching him in the face and leaving him with a broken nose.

“I feel sick in the stomach, I’ve got little kids, I could honestly cry for them, they've got a baby, it's just disgusting,” one neighbour told 7 News.

“It’s a bit scary, considering we're right next door,” another added.

Not longer after fleeing the family home, the thieves lost control of the Porsche, crashing it into a nearby gutter and ripping one of the back wheels off.

“The car was just in front of the house and the wheel was rolling down the road,” a witness recalled.
