Man charged with 168 offences including rape, child pornogrpahy

Queensland Police have charged a man with 168 offences including rape, child exploitation material and deprivation of liberty after he returned from Thailand Tuesday night.

Officers from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Bureau attached to Taskforce Argos, focusing on child exploitation, swooped on the 42-year-old man upon his return to Australia, charging him for the offences allegedly committed between 2003 and 2005.

The man fronted Brisbane court on Wednesday morning.

He was charged with a litany of offences including 39 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, 74 counts of possessing child exploitation material and 29 counts of rape, police said in a statement.

He was also charged with seven counts of deprivation of liberty, six counts of involving a child in the making of child exploitation material, six counts of make child exploitation material, five counts of torture and two counts of serious assault.
