Meet Sydney's 'Super Mum' of ten who is 'terrified' of back-to-school season

Getting the kids ready to go back to school is never easy, but imagine doing the mad rush with ten children.

A Sydney woman dubbed "Super Mum" said getting her kids ready to go back to school is "absolutely terrifying".

Liz Cauchi said she spends thousands of dollars each year to get her kids all set up for school.

She said with practice came the ability to cut a few costs.

“We pull out all the uniforms before we go back to school, we are often surprised with what we can fix," she told 7 News.

"Good soak in the tub and you can bring some shirts back to life.

Her other tips include raiding the home office before buying new stationery, consider refurbished devices to save on tablets and laptops and label absolutely everything.

“Wait 'til school goes back to wait for the sales, grab the next size up - when they're on sale - and you've got them for next year.”

Mrs Cauchi said school shoes were her most crippling expense, and she was forced to avoid trendy expensive ones and stick to the basics.

With 60,000 items listed across Australia, The Uniform Exchange is like the Gumtree for back to school goods, at a fraction of the cost.

“It's all expensive and it's all re-sellable. One year it will be one size, and the next year it will be twice the size. Especially with boys, they grow like weeds,” The Uniform Exchange worker Sue Turner told 7 News.
