'That's really fast': Man destroys $500,000 Ferrari while trying to impress his date

A man in the US trashed a $500,000 rental Ferrari while on a date when he failed to take a simple turn at speed.

A dashcam mounted on the hired Ferrari 458 Italia captured the unnamed 26-year-old driver's spectacular cock-up as he ripped through a twisting road in the Colorado Rockies.

The driver was trying to keep pace with a convoy of luxury sports cars when he came to the easy bend that got the better of him.

He was not breaking the speed limit for much of the journey, but then he decided to open it up.

His date in the passenger seat warned him to "be careful" as he hit the gas.

"That's too fast," she screamed as hit the bend at 100km/h.

Of course, her observation was proved right as the Ferrari veered off the road and crashed into the guardrail.

After cursing loudly several times, the driver asked his date if she was OK before getting out to inspect the vehicle.

It was not OK, it's entire front-right section was ripped apart and the hood was bent and buckled.

The video posted to YouTube on January 6 has been viewed more than 400,000 times and garnered numerous comments - few were positive.
