'Bikini smuggler' faces life in jail over Australia's biggest ever cocaine bust
One of two Canadian women dubbed the "bikini smugglers" has pleaded guilty to her role in one of Australia’s biggest ever cocaine busts.
Isabelle Lagace was arrested on arrival into Sydney on a Princess Cruise in late August, alongside fellow Canadians Melina Romberce and Andre Tamine.
It’s alleged police found 95 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $30 million, stashed in luggage found on the cruise liner.
"It’s the biggest narcotics seizure off a cruise vessel coming into Australia," Australian Border Force regional commander Tim Fitzgerald told reporters at the time.
In court on Friday, the 28-year-old Lagace pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle the cocaine into Australia and is now facing life in prison.
Before she and co-accused Romberce were arrested, the bikini-clad pair took to social media to boast about their lavish lifestyle, posting sun-baking pictures across the globe.
Lagace, reportedly a model and former porn star, has since deleted all her social media accounts after her arrest.

The $20,000 cruise had docked at a number of US and the Pacific locations before its arrival into Sydney.
Lagace will be sentenced in a Sydney court on February 3.
