Man arrested in relation to car theft with two pet dogs in back

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a carjacker allegedly stabbed a man and stole a four-wheel-drive with two dogs inside in Queensland.

Police released CCTV footage of the brazen theft that unfolded at a Greenbank petrol station on Thursday afternoon.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman confirmed on Friday evening a man was in custody in relation to the alleged incident.

One of the dogs was recovered on Friday afternoon, but the second pet remains missing.

It's alleged a man broke into a Park Ridge property and stole a Nissan utility before crashing and ditching it nearby.

Moments later the 40-year-old male owner confronted the alleged thief, but was left with cuts to his arms and chest when a knife was pulled. The victim was treated in a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

The alleged crime spree continued when a car thief, believed to be the same man from the earlier offences, was filmed sneaking into a blue Toyota Land Cruiser as the owner stood at the petrol tank.

Despite efforts to drag the carjacker from the vehicle, the man escaped with the two dogs in the back, leaving the four-wheel-drive owner with a cut to his hand.

He later required two stitches to the wound.
