Men rescued after yacht hits rocks north of Stradbroke Island

Two men have been rescued by water police after their yacht ran aground north of Stradbroke Island in Queensland's southeast.

Police received a call for help shortly after 2.30am on Sunday after the vessel hit a rock and starting taking on water at Flat Rock.

The men are believed to be the only occupants onboard and escaped injury in the collision.

The duo managed to escape in a life raft as the yacht tipped on its side in the choppy water.
