Monsters, gorillas and Santa Claus caught on wildlife cameras

CCTV cameras intended to capture images of mountain lions in a park instead snapped pictures of monsters, gorillas and Santa Claus.

The Gardner Police Department received calls about a mountain lion roaming in Gardner Park in Kansas and wanted to catch sight of it themselves.

They set up motion-activated cameras around Celebration Park expecting to also capture coyotes and raccoons.

However, what they found instead was a bunch of pranksters dressed up in a variety of animal costumes.

The department wrote on Facebook: “We are glad to report that over the time they were up we did not see a mountain lion.

“We were however surprised by some of the images that the cameras did take…

“We now have another different concern. We are attempting to identify some of the wildlife and activity in these images.”

The pranksters seemingly caught wind of the cameras and decided to troll the police - who fortunately took it all with good humour.

They added: “We would like to sincerely thank the persons responsible as it made our day when we pulled up what we expected to be hundreds of pictures of coyotes, foxes and raccoons.

“Thank you to the citizens who noticed the cameras. Your effort and sense of humour are greatly appreciated.”

The pranksters have not come forward.
