Tinder stalker planned rape, murder and a final act of evil
A man who stabbed and doused his lover in petrol had a sick fantasy to rape the young doctor, kill her and then burn down the house after she broke up with him, police believe.
Paul Dennis Lambert and Angela Jay met on dating app Tinder and the 36-year-old Brisbane man became obsessive and angry after she broke it off with him two months earlier, The Daily Telegraph has reported.
The Sydney finance worker broke into Dr Jay's Port Macquarie home on Thursday armed with a knife and waited for the young woman to come home from work.
Lambert had placed the young woman's underwear on her bed along with cable ties that he planned to use in the rape, before dousing the bed and her walk-in robe in petrol, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Investigators believe he had a fantasy to rape the 28-year-old doctor, kill her and then burn down the house.
Dr Jay got home at about 6pm and Lambert stabbed her 11 times in a frenzied attack.
Bleeding heavily, she escaped by running through her family room and down the driveway to a neighbour's house where she collapsed in a pool of her own of blood.
After they called for help, Dr Jay talked her neighbour through how stop her bleeding.
Lambert then fled north towards Brisbane, leading officers on a pursuit on the Pacific Highway before road spikes stopped him in Bonville, near Coffs Harbour.
Police were forced to shoot him down after he allegedly lunged at officers with a knife, undeterred by tazers.
Lambert had a long history of violence and stalking charges and had allegedly been kicked out of the US for stalking another woman.
Court documents show Dr Jay became fearful of the finance worker after their relationship ended, and she was granted an apprehended violence restraining order against him in court this week.
The documents claim Lambert had bombarded Dr Jay with threatening and abusive messages, and he was ordered not to go near the young doctor or contact her.
"Your (sic) not safe in that house ... I have some of the house keys,” one threatening message read.
Lambert reportedly went by his birth name Paul Michael Scales in Florida in May 2015 when he was deported for breaching a restraining order against a former love interest.
It's claimed he changed his name in July 2015 in a bid to make "a fresh start".
