New male pill can be taken minutes before sex and works for days

British scientists have made a breakthrough in the search for a male contraceptive pill which could transform the sex lives of millions.

The new male contraceptive pill and nasal spray works instantly and makes men infertile for a few days.

The contraceptive works by smuggling itself into sperm which stops them from swimming. This makes the sperm unable to fertilise eggs.

Researchers at Wolverhampton University created the compound with Portuguese scientists. They said the fast-acting contraceptive could be taken just minutes before sex.

Professor John Howl, who is behind the project said, "The results are startling and almost instant. When you take healthy sperm and add our compound, within a few minutes the sperm basically cannot move".

The male pill is still in the testing stage but there are reports it could be available by 2021.
