Man kills wife’s father and sister to lure her to their funeral, then murdered her at the service

A Texas man faces life in prison after hiring hit men to murder his wife’s father and sister and then killing his wife at their funeral.

Samuel Velasco’s wife's father was killed in October 2008. Her sister Cinthia was gunned down the next month.

Velasco’s wife Ruth was then ambushed going to her sister’s funeral.

Authorities said Velasco murdered his wife after killing both her sister and father in 2008. They said he used a murder-for-hire scheme - hiring hit men to carry out the killings.

It took the jury only three hours to convict Velasco.

The El Paso man was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and conspiracy to cause foreign travel for murder for hire.

Two of his relatives pleaded guilty to conspiracy-related counts and face possible life terms.

Velasco's sentencing will take place in January.
