One-eyed Spanish matador gored in same eye by 600kg bull

A one-eyed Spanish matador was gored by the horn of a 600-kilogram bull and stamped on in a circumstance similar to the mauling which saw him lose his left eye.

Juan Jose Padilla, branded "The Pirate" because of his eyepatch, was rushed to hospital after the bull impaled the left side of his face.

The terrifying clash happened during the El Pilar Feria at the La Misericordia bullring in Zaragoza on Sunday, nearly five years ago to the day he lost his eye, local media reported.

In the footage, the huge beast charged at Padilla and took him to the floor using its horns.

The bull struck 'The Pirate' on the left side of his face and left the matador holding his left eye, wincing in pain.

Worried officials rushed to help the one-eyed matador and helped drag him out of the ring.

In May 2011, the 43-year-old was picked up, flung and gored by a bull in a stadium in Madrid.

He underwent lifesaving surgery and returned to the ring months later sporting an eyepatch.
