Mark Zuckerberg said animals taste better 'when you hunt them yourself'

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has admitted to hunting wild animals for fun and said the meat tastes better when you kill it yourself.

In a Facebook Live session streamed from his Paolo Alto home, Zuckerberg sat in front of two barbeques cooking brisket and ribs and spoke of how the best flavour comes from hunting the animal in person.

“Half of the joy is things taste better when you make them yourself, and they taste doubly better when you’ve hunted the animal yourself," he said.

"Whether you’re fishing for the salmon, or going hunting for a boar - that’s a big part of it."

"You feel more connected to what you’re doing and what you’re eating when you cook it yourself and it’s this whole experience.”

The 32-year-old tech wiz said he started his hobby "maybe four of five years ago" and said it is a good way to feel "connected with nature".

“I feel like if you’re going to eat meat then I think you should get to know where it comes from," he said.

In 2011, Zuckerberg told Fortune newspaper that he would only eat the animals he killed himself.

"It's easy to take the foods we eat for granted when we can eat good things every day," he said.
