Many Australian's set to lose an hour sleep as clocks switch to Daylight Saving Time

Many Australian's will lose one hour sleep on Sunday, as their clocks jump forward for daylight saving.

Tomorrow, October 2, residents across New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the ACT will put their clocks forward from 2am AEST.

These states will gain an extra hour of sunshine at night for the summer.

Daylight savings starts for residents across MSW, Vic, Tas, SA and ACT on Sunday at 2am.

Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory can rest easy as there's no change to their time zones.

Most Android phones and all Apple devices - iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, watches - will automatically update the time unless you have switched your device's time and date settings off automatic.

But keep an eye out for wall clocks and microwaves as these will have to be changed manually.

Daylight savings will remain in place until April, when the colder months kick in.
