Three airlifted in two separate incidents on Aussie cruise ships

Three people have been airlifted from two separate P&O cruise liners in less than 24 hours, with one of those victims suffering a head injury onboard the vessel.

According to the Brisbane rescue team, a man was winched from P&O's Pacific Pearl roughly 70nM east of the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

The man had sustained a head injury on the ship, with details of the accident yet to be released.

The two were deemed to need onshore treatment for "medical conditions", and a result, both were airlifted off the vessel.

The duo were taken to Gold Coast Hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

A P&O spokesperson said it was an "unusual coincidence" that passengers onboard two different ships needed medical evacuation.
