Woman who allegedly stole dying woman's bag asks for 'God’s forgiveness'

The woman accused of stealing a dying woman’s credit card from the crumpled wreckage of a car has pleaded for forgiveness outside court.

Silvia Schreuder allegedly used Kay Shaylor’s cards to buy groceries, cigarettes and McDonalds within an hour of the 62-year-old nurse’s death following a crash on NSW's Central Coast.

“I’m appalled, loathed, there’s no more I can say and I’m still asking for God’s forgiveness,” Schreuder said outside Gosford Local Court on Tuesday.

Police allege Schreuder and her co-accused stole a bag from the crash as they assisted emergency services at the scene.

Ms Shaylor died in hospital after accident.

Schreuder claims she was high on drugs at the time of the alleged theft, and took to Facebook to pen a lengthy apology.

“God will not forgive me… and I will not forgive myself,” she wrote.

“To the family of Kay I know sorry will never be accepted. I’m sincerely regretful.”

Along with Schreuder’s purchases, her co-accused is also accused of buying cigarettes at a local convenience store.

At his last court appearance, he waved his middle finger at the camera, showing no remorse.

The pair were arrested at Gosford train station on the day of Ms Shaylor’s funeral.

The victim’s family told police the pair’s alleged actions had shattered their faith in humanity.

Schreuder said she had not yet received acknowledgment from the family that they accept her apology.

She will face court again next month.
