UK pilot has lucky escape after engine fails

A microlight pilot in the UK was forced to make an emergency landing after his engine failed.

Pilot Kevin Armstrong was left shaken but uninjured after choosing to land in a muddy field.

"If I'd picked a different field damage may have been averted, but not always possible to tell which are well drained and which are not," he said in his YouTube post.

"This looked like a typical paddock next to the village. Still, been flying since 1993 and this is my first wreck."

Mr Armstrong uploaded vision from the 125-mile flight in May, where he reached heights of over 4900 feet before hitting engine trouble.

The experienced pilot said the drama did not put him off future flights.
