Vodafail: Vodafone customers slam network after nationwide outage

Thousands of Vodafone customers have slammed the telecommunications network after an Australia-wide outage took more than eight hours to fix.

Users were unable to send texts, make calls or access data from about 5pm on Sunday.

Some were also unable to reach Vodafone to report the issues.

Vodafone confirmed the network was suffering "intermittent" outages at 10.30pm on Monday.

"We are aware of an issue which is causing intermittent disruption to voice, data, and text services for some customers," Vodafone wrote.

"We're working to resolve this ASAP as our top priority. We don't have an ETA at this time but will keep you updated.

"We're very sorry about the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience."

Hundreds of Vodafone users took their frustrations to Twitter during and after the outage.

“Why do I have no service @ all? No phone, no data, nothing! I can't even reach you guys via a land line. When will it be fixed,” one unsatisfied customer posted on Twitter.

Another customer wrote: "It isn't intermittent when the network hasn't worked for three hours - it is an outage and it's very inconvenient."

"Help!! I can't connect to my service at all and not at home. Can't even call your centre. Have had to borrow a hotspot for data." one furious user said.

"This has been happening since 5pm, & you still don't seem to be able to give an explanation or fix timeframe," another woman said.

The telecommunications company hasn't given exact details on what caused the eight-hour disruption.

Earlier this year, when Telstra experienced network outages they granted customers free data to apologise. Some Vodafone customers have suggested they do the same and provide users with compensation.

"We've been without cellular access since 6:00pm, on four devices. What compensation are you offering for this massive outage?," one unsatisfied customer said.
