Disabled mum shames ‘seat stealing’ train passengers on social media

A furious disabled woman has taken to social media after she claims she was forced to stand on a train for more than an hour after two men “refused” to move from her reserved seat.

The passenger, Cat Lee, who suffers from crippling pain, booked the seats on the passenger train travelling from King’s Cross to Skipton yesterday.

Upon boarding the train with her friend Lee claims the two men refused to move from her assigned seating so she in turn took a photo of the pair and posted it along with a scathing message on social media.

“Meet these gentlemen. Travelling from London Kings Cross on the 18:03 to Skipton,” the 43-year-old began in her post.

“Charming fellows took reserved seats from Rach & I. As a disabled passenger, I stated why I needed my reserve seat. They didn't budge.

“I'm sure their wives and mothers would be proud of them.”

According to various online reports Lee, a mother from Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, suffers from chronic pain.

Lee had suffered nerve damage and crippling groin pain following an operation, which left her unable to work reported the Metro.co.uk.

She had taken her friend for support on the three-hour and ten-minute train trip but both were left standing for over an hour before Cat managed to find another seat on the busy train.

Due to the foot traffic on the train Lee was unable to push her way through to report the incident to a guard.

The two men who allegedly ‘stole’ the seats spent most of the long ride chatting about luxury holidays before getting off the train at Leeds reports the Metro.co.uk.

Lee revealed to the Metro.co.uk that even after telling the men about her disability they still refused to move.

Speaking on Ms Lee's behalf her friend Kath Sansom told The Daily Mail, "Cat told them they were in her reserved seats and the men totally ignored her and kept staring at their phones.

"The aisles were rammed packed so they were unable to push past everybody to try to find a guard. She was in pain and needed her friend there for support.

"Cat feels angry that people think they can do as they please with no consideration for others. The seats are reserved. End of. I just hope it sends a message to others not to do this to people."

Yahoo7 reached out to Lee for comment.
