A cobra in a bottle has been unearthed by a boat skipper who cleans up around Auckland's coastline.
Ben Harris made the unusual find while clearing rubbish and plastic from Pakuranga creek in East Auckland on Friday.
It was picked up among huge amounts of plastic discovered among mangroves in the creek.
"Cobra in a bottle. Found in pakuranga creek while cleaning up rubbish. This has to rate as one of the stranger items we have come across," he wrote.
Harris said the bottle was sealed, adding inside was also a ginseng root.
On it was written 'Product of Vietnam', he said.
Other products he has unearthed include a huge Hindu statue on Rangitoto Island.
Harris, who skippers the Phil Warren II boat and has been cleaning up Auckland's shores for more than 10 years, recorded footage of the rubbish haul found in Pakuranga creek on Friday.
He said it was one of the most he'd seen.
