Neighbour hands police CCTV of car resembling Karen Ristevski's on day she vanished

A neighbour of Karen Ristevski has reportedly handed police CCTV footage of a car resembling the missing mother's being driven near her home on the day she vanished.

The 47-year-old has not been seen since she left their $1.1 million Avondale Heights home on June 29, after an argument with her husband, Borce.

It is believed the mother left to "clear her head" at about 10am and she hasn't been seen since.

The police search for Mrs Ristevski remains firmly focused on Victoria and there is no evidence as of yet to suggest the missing mother had left the state or travelled overseas.

A resident who lives near the Ristevski family's Oakley Drive home recently gave Victoria Police CCTV footage that was taken from a camera positioned outside her house, the Herald Sun reported.

The footage is believed to show a car that resembles the one owned by Ms Ristevski on the day she disappeared.

But the video may be too blurry to determine who the driver of the vehicle is or if there is another person in the car, which may prompt police to use video-enhancing technology to zoom in on the driver.

Information on the footage has come as it was revealed mobile phone data showed Mr and Mrs Ristevski's phones were both detected by transmitter towers on Melbourne's Calder Highway on the day Mrs Ristevski vanished.

The mother's mobile phone was reportedly tracked near Gisborne, 40km northwest of their home, while her husband's was tracked on the same highway, at Diggers Rest, about 20km northwest of the home.

It was also reported that Mr Ristevski's phone was switched off for about two hours that day.

When quizzed by detectives on his whereabouts the day his wife disappeared, Mr Ristevski said he had forgotten to mention he had driven his wife's car that day.

He reportedly told police the fuel gauge of Karen's 2004 Mercedes-Benz coupe was playing up so he wanted to test it out on the Calder.

Mr Ristevski claimed the fault corrected itself when he hit a bump on the highway, so he then returned home.

It has also been reported, the missing mother's husband told family members his wife was abducted by a stranger, murdered and “discarded like a piece of rubbish".

There is no suggestion that Mr Ristevski was involved in his wife's disappearance.
