Police scour bushland on the Gold Coast after discovery of wanted vehicle

A police operation is underway on the Gold Coast after a wanted vehicle was tracked by police helicopters on Sunday afternoon.

Bushland is being scoured by officers in the Numinbah Valley area following the discovery of the stolen black BMW.

Officers are searching for the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, who is believed to be Ben Goreng.

It is believed he is armed with a firearm.

There is a heavy police presence with cordons and road closures in place.

At the moment Nerang-Murwillumbah Road is closed between Daves Creek Road and Pine Creek Road.

Members of the public are being asked not to approach him, but if he is spotted to instead phone 000.
