Queensland mother tells of terrifying road rage incident with baby in car

A Queensland mother has described her shock and horror after being caught up in a terrifying road rage incident while her baby was in the car.

Nienke Cassidy says a driver reversed into her vehicle, then abused and threatened her before chasing a witness who had filmed the confrontation.

The footage shot by Louise Fisher shows two cars stopped at a Logan service station and an escalating situation, as the male driver slams the door of his car and approaches Ms Cassidy.

She had been waiting to exit the servo when, she says, the man reversed his blue sedan into her car.

"I got out of my car and I went to him and I said you just hit my car and he was straight, what are you talking about, no I didn't,” Ms Cassidy told 7 News.

She said when she asked for his details, he lashed out.

"He was coming at me with speed and force like he was going to hit me.”

Her 7-month-old baby was in her car. When she told the man this, he shouted “f*** you, f*** your baby”.

Another driver saw Ms Cassidy’s distress and can be seen walking over to her side, as she visibly weeps.

"I'd hate to think what could have happened if it wasn't in such a populated place in the middle of the day,” Ms Cassidy said.

When the man realised Ms Fisher was filming him, he charged toward her but what happened next was not caught on camera.

"I put the phone down and put the window up,” she said.

She drove off but he followed her for about 20metres, swearing at her with his fist in the air.

"I think if I hadn't moved, I probably wouldn't be sitting here now,” Ms Fisher said.

Nienka said the ordeal lasted 20 minutes before she got the man’s details, which have now been passed onto police.
