Quick-thinking driver saves toddler from getting hit by car on Sydney street

A quick-thinking driver has saved the life of a wandering toddler who ventured out onto a busy Sydney street, with police handing the case to Family and Community Services.

The young child was captured on the Gary Dring's dashcam walking out onto Tangerine Street in Villawood.

Mr Dring saw the toddler edging towards the road verge and quickly pulled in to stop any oncoming traffic.

He then picked up the little girl and handed her across to a young relative who came from the front of the property.

"The parents didn't believe the police that the baby was out there," Mr Dring said.

"They had to call me up to bring the vision over just to give them proof that the baby was actually out on the street by itself."

The grateful parents declined to be interviewed by 7 News.

Police say the video serves as a warning for parents to always know where their young children are, especially near roads and busy streets.
