Jessica Wongso death: The moment Sydney design student drank cyanide-laced coffee

A former Sydney design student unsuspectingly brings a cup of poisoned ice coffee to her mouth and appears to wince in pain in a chilling video revealing her horrific death.

Confronting CCTV - obtained by ABC'S 7.30 - shows Ms Salihin, Ms Wongso and another friend who they studied with in Sydney, sitting down to eat in the up-market cafe.

The young women hug and greet each other, before sitting down to consider their order.

Ms Wongso appears to surround the cafe table with bags, impeding the view of CCTV cameras as she watches her friend drink the fatal concoction, which prosecutors allege was laced with cyanide.

Ms Salihin clutches at her face and rocks her head from side to side, appearing to be in serious discomfort.

She slumps in the chair, causing her head to roll back behind her.

The young woman apparently began foaming at the mouth after just one sip of the Olivier Grant Café's Vietnamese coffee Ms Wongso had allegedly ordered for her more than half an hour earlier.

The 27-year-old newlywed died on her way to hospital.

Potassium cyanide is a cheap and readily available in Indonesia, most commonly used in gold mining. It is said to be a very painful way to die.

The victim and her alleged killer graduated from the Billy Blue Design College in 2008.

Police say the pair grew apart since their graduation and and Ms Salihin's marriage Arief Soemarko before her death.

Ms Wongso did not attend the wedding and it’s alleged she was driven to murder by "revenge and jealousy".

Mr Soemarko told the program he has no doubt Ms Wongso is guilty of the murder because of her bizarre behaviour immediately before and after the murder.

Mirna had recently married her husband Arief Soemarko.

The widower said it was bizarre Ms Wongso deleted all of her mobile phone data and threw away the trousers she wore that day.

Mr Soemarko said he was devastated on how his wife felt that day.

“She's obviously in pain, several times she waves her hand at her mouth. I heard the drug destroys everything on the way... I heard her stomach was destroyed because [of] the poison," he said.

The case against Ms Wongso was almost dropped by Indonesian prosecutors due of a lack of evidence.

Last week, her legal team launched an application saying the prosecution's indictment against their client had including failed to establish the basic elements of premeditated murder.

But Justice Minister Michael Keenan approved the Australian Federal Police (AFP) taking over crucial documents that revealed Ms Wongso's erratic and worsening behaviour over the 12 months before the alleged murder.

The documents revealed she suffers from mental health problems.

Ms Wongso is expected to appeal the decision but the trial will continue next month regardless.

Speaking after the decision was handed down at Central Jakarta District Court, Ms Wongso's lawyer Otto Hasibuan told reporters there is not a single piece of direct evidence.

"There is not even one witness who saw what Jessica did. All are just interpretations or conclusions," he said.
