'I've just killed someone': Mother-of-four struck by a car and killed

A night out with the girls has ended in tragedy when a mother-of-four was hit by a car and killed.

Mother-of-four Annabelle Deall, 32, was killed after being struck by a car in Terrigal.

Ms Daell and two friends were crossing the road at the Cowrie restaurant as the sports car came around a bend.

Ms Daell's friend, Megan Darling, was also hit.

Ms Darling is 20 weeks pregnant.

A third friend, Melissa Wilkinson, wasn't injured.

Local resident David Watts immediately brought some blankets out for the two victims.

"Then we then realised one was deceased," he said.

"The other one was still alive, so we went over and looked after her as best we could."

Waiters at the Cowrie restaurant also ran straight to the scene when the accident happened.

"Obviously they witnessed the terrible scene," owner of the restaurant Brett Dengate told 7 News.

"Two ladies had been mowed down by a young driver and [the staff] can't work today, they are too upset."

The 22-year-old driver eventually stopped further up the road and returned to help.

Witnesses told police that he was screaming "I've just killed someone."

According to locals, the bend of road where Ms Daell and her friend were hit has always been "extremely dangerous".

They believe the nearby trees impair vision, and that some drivers treat the stretch as a "racetrack".

"Obviously the trees need to be taken down," Mr Watts told 7 News.

"I think there needs to be some speed reduction put in, maybe some speed bumps need to be implemented."

Federal member for Robertson Lucy Wicks said fixing the road is a "top priority".

"I can say with absolute certainty that we will be doing everything we can to see a safer traffic solution right here," she said.

The driver will face court later this month, charged with dangerous driving causing death.
