Man jailed for spitting in McDonald's staffer's face, says his food came out too slow

The man who spat in the face of a McDonald's worker because he was sick of waiting for his food has been jailed for one month after a court described it as an "appalling" act.

Hassain Abdul-Rahim was captured on security vision impatiently waiting to pay for his meal at the Essendon McDonald's drive-through on January 13 before he moves to the next window.

It was at the second window Abdul-Rahim, who was driving unlicenced at the time, reaches out of his car multiple times to the counter before his food is passed out to him.

CCTV from inside the store captured to moment Abdul-Rahim spat in the face of a 19-year-old employee after she gave him his food.

The vision shows the employee quickly pull away from the window, wipe her face and move out of the store area.

“The saliva’s gone into her mouth, all over her face and down her neck,” police said at the time of the attack.

Abdul-Rahim faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday, charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Described in court as an “unprovoked” and “unacceptable” act, Abdul-Rahim was sentenced to one-month jail.
