Thieves force Kmart to lockdown chocolate

A Melbourne Kmart store has taken drastic action to reportedly deter chocolate-loving thieves.

A keen-eyed shopper saw the Cadbury chocolate range locked in casing at the Reservoir store and shared his photo online.

The DVD-style cases have been used in a bid to stop sticky fingered thieves who apparently enjoy the odd block of Top Deck, an unnamed security guard told NewsCorp.

Store goers have previously reported seeing shoppers walking around the shop while eating the chocolate.

Under the strict new measure, anyone interested in the Cadbury purchase must take the case to the counter and wait for a staff member to unlock the case.

It has certainly proved a Rocky Road for a block of chocolate.

Kmart is yet to state if the measure has worked, or if it will be implemented in other stores.
