‘She’s dead’: Police conference cut short after neighbour discovers elderly woman’s body

A Queensland police press conference ended abruptly after a distressed man has interrupted claiming to have found his elderly neighbour dead inside her home.

At the time of the stunning interruption the spokesperson, Detective Inspector Kelly Harvey, was addressing the media about two separate victims who were also stabbed in the same area on Tuesday night.

“Is that, do want some help?” Harvey said upon first hearing the man distressed screams for assistance.

“She’s dead!” the man screams.

“Who?” a visibly stunned Harvey replies to the man.

“My neighbor!” he screams back.

Harvey then quickly ends the conference and walks towards the residence.

Detectives have confirmed that they have commenced a homicide investigation following the discovery of the elderly woman’s body at Wulguru Wednesday morning.

Police also confirmed they are currently conducting inquiries in Wright Street shortly after 9am in relation to the attempted murder of a 26-year-old woman and 28-year-old man last night officers located the body of an 80-year-old woman in a nearby residence.

However police are not linking the two stabbings currently until further investigations are carried out.

A crime scene has been established at both locations.

A 32-year-old man arrested at the scene overnight remains in police custody at hospital as inquiries continue.
