Man crashes into police car while playing Pokémon Go

A man on a mission to catch Pokemon has learned the hard way not to play while driving, after he crashed into a parked police vehicle.

An officer from the US city of Baltimore caught the moment on his body camera as he stood with two colleagues outside the car.

The man’s Toyota RAV4 comes barreling down the street and ploughs into the parked car before rebounding into the street.

The driver, who escaped unscathed, got out of the car and quickly confessed he was playing Pokemon Go behind the wheel.

“That’s what I get for playing this dumb a** game,” he told officers before apologising.

It is unclear whether the man captured the Pokemon that took his attention off the road.

The accident is the latest in a string of mishaps that have occurred since the release of the augmented reality game.

Earlier this week, two men had to be rescued after falling more than 40 feet from an ocean bluff in San Diego.

In another state of America, a Georgia woman phoned police in tears after she became locked in a cemetery while searching for the monsters.

Australian players have found themselves in similar spots of trouble.

A crazed crowd of players gathering in a park in Sydney’s west were pelted with water bombs from residents who were tired of the noise and the mess left by the gamers.

New South Wales Police also booked several drivers for playing behind the wheel, slapping them with a penalty of a $325 fine and four demerit points.
